Botanical Garden Wedding // Lin + Ben // Midwest Wedding & Elopement Photographer
Lin & Ben had the most magical summer wedding at the Botanical Gardens, surrounded by friends & family. I just love the unique touches Lin incorporated of her culture. A favorite moment was at the reception when the entire room watched a video message from Lin’s parents (who were unable to attend). There was not a dry eye at the end!
What was your wedding day inspiration?
The venue was where we had our first date, and the date was the 1 year anniversary of our civil ceremony. That's where we started all our planning.
What was your wedding theme/color scheme?
Because I grew up in China and Ben is from the States, we sort of had a theme that we wanted our guests to experience elements from both cultures. While the ceremony and bridal dress were more of a western style, we had details such as traditional Chinese fans, my red dress, desserts, etc.
What was your wedding planning experience like?
We were super lucky to have our friend Leah as the wedding planner - she really respected our wishes and had creative ways to achieve our vision. We worked really well together so the experience was better and easier than I had thought it would be. Even with the pandemic, we were able to discuss openly our thoughts and options, and eventually worked out with our catering company to figure out something we felt good about.
Advice to brides that are currently planning their weddings?
Be patient with your partner and have open communication with them. If you go with a planner, definitely pick someone you truly trust and someone who can help you calm down. Lastly, try your best to enjoy the day - it may not be perfect but it is still most special for the two of you!
